DISCIPLINE: When justice leaves the land

When justice leaves, what fills the void? Disrespect for law enforcement, parental authority and teacher authority. Rebellion begins to rear its ugly head. Do any readers wonder why our prisons are full?

There is a manmade process going from societal discipline, leading to challenge of established authority, to outright rebellion to authority, to an increase in nonviolent and violent crimes, to minimum sentencing and repeat offenders and the eventual collapse of an orderly society.

Simple solutions: Let the punishment fit the crime — capital punishment for capital crime, with a very streamlined, swift appeals process, backed only with substantial new evidence.

The Second Amendment is a foundational principle to an orderly society — for self-defense, enjoying the shooting sports and harvesting food in settled times and times of great difficult. It’s my hope that all our state judges would be strict constitutionalists and not amenable to construct new laws out of ghost cloth.
