KCSO, Black Sheep to host a Sept. 11 ceremony

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office, in partnership with Black Sheep Sporting Goods, will host a memorial ceremony at 11 a.m. Sept. 11 at the Silver Lake Mal. 

It is open to everyone and will provide an opportunity for citizens, first responders, members of the military, law enforcement, and community leaders to come together in remembrance of the lives lost during the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001.

Gold Star Families who will be in attendance and recognized during the ceremony. 

"These families carry the enduring legacy of loved ones who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation," a press release said. "Their presence serves as a powerful reminder of the personal cost of service and the importance of continuing to honor and remember those who gave their lives for others."

The ceremony will honor the citizens who lost their lives Sept. 11 as well as the brave men and women who responded and served in the aftermath of the attacks. 

"We will also recognize the sacrifices made by service members, first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency medical personnel, and others who have dedicated their lives to protecting and serving our communities and our nation," the release said.

As part of the day's program, Buffalo Speedway will perform live on stage. Those attending in uniformed service are encouraged to dress appropriately for this solemn occasion.

The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office extends its appreciation to Black Sheep Sporting Goods, the Silver Lake Mall, Buffalo Speedway, and the citizens of Kootenai County for their continued support and for helping bring our community together to remember, honor and reflect on those who were lost.
