Robert 'Bob' Salayi, 74

Robert “Bob” Salayi passed away unexpectedly at his home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on July 21, 2026. He was born on Nov. 11, 1951, in Mt. Holly, N.J., to Wilamina (Adams) and Bernard Johnson.

While growing up in Absecon and Browns Mills, N.J., he was active in the Boy Scouts and was a junior volunteer firefighter.

After high school graduation, he joined the Navy and proudly served his country from 1970-1974 during the Vietnam War. He met Marcia Serfling during that time, and they were married on June 7, 1975. He truly enjoyed his job as a certified surgical technician at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., for over 30 years.

Bob’s joys in life included family, friends, music, and history. He loved to laugh and see others laugh. His quick wit, kindness, and beautiful heart will be missed forever.

He will be deeply missed by his wife, Marcia (Serfling); his sons, Trevor (Shira) and Brandon (Sarah); his grandchildren, Henry and Ruby; his siblings, June and Chuck (Brenda); Marcia’s family (who became his); and many other family members and friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
