| August 2, 2026 1:00 AM

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William "Bill" Lane, who passed away peacefully July 24, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on Oct. 27, 1940, in Washington, D.C., Bill proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. During his military service, he was stationed in England, where he met the love of his life, Irene. Their chance meeting grew into a beautiful marriage that lasted 65 years, built on love, dedication, and partnership.

After his military service, Bill and Irene settled in San Jose, Calif., where they raised their family. In retirement, they made their home in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Bill was known for his quick wit, playful sense of humor and unforgettable pranks. He loved playing basketball and pool, trying his luck at bingo, spending time fishing and making memories with those he loved. Above all, Bill treasured his family and found his greatest joy in being a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

He is survived by his beloved wife and the light of his life, Irene; his loving daughters, Kim and Michelle; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored. He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Bob, who passed away ten years ago. We find comfort and peace in knowing they are together again.

Bill leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, service and unwavering devotion to his family. His kindness, generosity and playful spirit will be deeply missed but forever remembered. Though our hearts are heavy with his loss, we are grateful for the life he lived and the countless memories he gave us. Bill's love and laughter will continue to live on in all who were fortunate enough to know him.
