Gary E. Jensen, 92

Gary E. Jensen, age 92, passed away peacefully at his home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on July 28, 2026, of natural causes. He lived a full life and leaves behind a legacy of faith, family and joyful optimism that lifted everyone around him.

Born in Roseland, Neb., Gary carried his Midwestern values and a deep love of life through his 92 years. He spent his professional banking career in Colorado, Illinois, Montana and California. He spent his retirement years in Iowa, Florida, Colorado and Idaho.  

A lifelong Catholic and member of The Knights of Columbus, Gary’s faith gave him a vibrant spirit and a contagious positivity. Outside of work, Gary found immense joy in simple pleasures. He loved singing, playing bridge, bowling and backgammon. Gary always looked forward to meals out with his family to catch up on everyone’s lives. Over the years, he enjoyed driving his various convertible sports cars, whether it was to the grocery store or the occasional road trip to see new places and meet new people. He loved interacting with people and making them laugh, especially his grandchildren.

Gary is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen (Hardie) Jensen; his children: Dennis (MaryAnn), Stefan (Kent), Sundari (Carol), Thom (Melanie), Kelly, John (Andrea); his sister, Carolyn; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His warmth, laughter, and bright perspective on life will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all who were fortunate enough to know him. We’re lighting a candle for you! 

There will be a small service for family and friends in Lafayette, Colo.
