Two-year rehab project for Seltice Way moves forward

Post Falls is moving forward with a plan to improve Seltice Way between McGuire Road and Chase Road.
City councilors unanimously approved the phased project last Tuesday to rebuild the roadway and upgrade the utilities infrastructure for about $6.7 million.
About half of the project's cost comes from the utilities budget, and the rest comes from the streets budget and the city of Rathdrum.
Andrew Arbini, division manager, said this is the first city project he has been a part of in which they have done a full rebuild of the roadway.
The new road is expected to last for about 20 years.
“The existing pavement is in poor condition and to the best efforts of the streets division, we’ve been able to maintain it and patch it, but the ultimate solution is to replace the roadway,” Arbini said.
The project also required coordination with the city of Rathdrum and East Greenacres Irrigation District.
The winning bid of seven was from MDM Construction Group, Inc.
Project Manager Jaxon Fleshman said the project will require two construction seasons to complete.
“We need to go about this in phased approaches to allow for traffic back and forth during construction,” Fleshman said.
Phases 1 and 2 include construction work from McGuire to Chase roads on Seltice Way in 2027.
Phases 3 and 4, scheduled for later this year, include the McGuire and Seltice and Chase and Setice intersections.
Public outreach will mitigate traffic impacts through limited closures at the McGuire and Chase intersections.
