Community Action Partnership looks for helping hands

COEUR d’ALENE — While the weather outside is warming up, food and financial donations for the Community Action Partnership have been drying up.
Vincent Fish said that whether you have time or resources to offer, the Coeur d'Alene Community Action Partnership is looking for donations and volunteers.
“During the holidays, everybody is super generous, but a lot of our donations and volunteers slow down a little bit over the summer because they’ve got other stuff to do. We can’t really blame them, but the need is still here,” Fish said.
People can help at the food bank and those with green thumbs can grow vegetables for the CAP garden.
“Volunteering is great and there’s no such thing as a donation too small or big,” Fish said. “Anybody who’s new in town and wants to meet new people, come here, you’re going to meet some great people.”
Donations can be made Monday through Thursday at 4144 W Industrial Loop, Coeur d'Alene.
Fish said any form of help, however big or small, goes a long way.
“Volunteering looks great on a resume and is perfect on a college application. It doesn’t hurt a dating profile either,” Fish said.
CAP can also help arrange a food drive with clubs or neighborhoods to benefit the food bank.
The garden behind the building has begun to show signs of last year’s carrots and onions resurfacing, but otherwise it is untouched and ready to be filled with greenery again.
“We are just now starting our community garden project and I would love to get the word out and get people interested,” Fish said. “We’ve got plenty for people to do.”
