KIRK: Killing sparks fear in conservative

| September 17, 2025 1:00 AM

I am profoundly affected by the murder of Charlie Kirk. I have these feelings, first of all, for all the normal reasons: horror that a young man who had harmed no one was assassinated, a young man who is now being lied about by a segment of people in this country. People are falsely claiming he was racist, misogynist, homophobic and more, only because they disagreed with him politically. Some people are actually rejoicing that he was killed.

My husband is a politically conservative, outspoken man who is occasionally in the public eye. This could happen to him. He’s not as famous as Charlie Kirk, but they were on the same page in many areas. Just by saying this, am I setting him up to be murdered by some evil, insane person?

Am I setting myself up to be murdered for saying this out loud?

How many people walking the streets of our town would rejoice in my death or my husband’s death because they disagreed with our politics?

Think about it.

I pray for the strength and courage to stand up for what I believe is right, nonviolently and legally. I am frightened to the depths of my soul, but I will not stand down.

Join me.
