Fire damages Coeur d'Alene home
JASON ELLIOTT/Press A fire broke out at a residence near Lake City High School in Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday, delaying a boys soccer match between Coeur d'Alene and Lake City High for nearly 10 minutes.
A Coeur d'Alene home was damaged in a fire Tuesday afternoon.
Neighbor Kim Stearns called 911 at 4:51 p.m. after seeing smoke and flames coming from the garage on Harcourt Drive and hearing "popping noises."
"You could feel the heat coming off of the house, it was so hot," Stearns said.
No one was at the house at the time of the fire and there were no reported injuries.
Jennifer Peak, homeowner, was in good spirits and grateful their dog was OK.
"Everyone's safe and that's what matters," she said.
Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control and limited damage primarily to the garage as a few dozen people looked on.
"It was super scary, but the neighborhood really came together," Stearns said.
