MACKAY: ‘Seven Rules’ spread positivity

| September 14, 2025 1:00 AM

I want to share that for many years I have reviewed the Coeur d’Alene Press to be informed of current local events and activities. Nowadays it’s challenging to glean the positive fragments of the news. However, one columnist that never disappoints is Harvey Mackay, in the business section.

A few weeks ago, I particularly enjoyed the article from the nationally syndicated columnist Harvey Mackay, “Seven Rules of Life.” In summary: 1. Let it Go, 2. Ignore Them, 3. Give It Time, 4. Don’t Compare, 5. Stay Calm, 6. It’s On You, and 7. Smile.

As a social worker/ service coordinator one of my basic goals is “To Enhance Personal Independence and the Quality of Life” or simply stated, “To help people be happy, healthy and active.” These simple “7 Rules of Life” go well with my overall focus.

With permission from Mr. Mackay, I’ve made a flyer of the “7 Rules” to distribute to the people that I help, in hopes to spread some positivity. A bit of “ripples in action” effect.

Thanks for continuing to support his column in the newspaper.
