KCTFHR: Condemns Kirk assassination

We join millions of Americans in condemning the horrific violence that resulted in the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and we extend our deepest condolence to his family.

Also, on Wednesday there was yet another mass school shooting this time at the Evergreen High School in Colorado.

In June we witnessed the killing of Minnesota state legislator Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark and the attempted killing of Minnesota state senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette.

Recent acts of political violence included the attempted assassination of candidate Donald Trump and Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro.

We are deeply troubled by the unconscionable growing level of violence across America.

The Kootenai County Task Force on Human Relations was established more than 44 years ago for the explicit mission of countering violence that grows out of hate as we have supported numerous victims of this hatred and violence.

How do we restore civility where we respect each other’s right to his or her views and freedoms that is the foundation of a democratic society?
