TRUMP: What is TDS?

I just read another Letter to The Press concerning a person’s belief about Trump. In their opinion Trump’s a bully, who’s attacking our democracy while showing fondness to Puttin, yet at the same time is being played like a fiddle. After reading this latest rant I thought, OK, another person with TDS. Then I wondered, is there an actual definition for Trump Derangement Syndrome? Turns out there is. Per Google TDS “is a pejorative term used to describe negative reactions to U.S. President Donald Trump that are characterized as irrational and disconnected from Trump’s actual policy positions.”

Wow, that’s it; how refreshing to realize the term TDS has been so accurately defined. Finally, we have a definition to help us understand what’s going through the mind of a person with TDS. For years I tried to present evidence to counter what a TDS person was saying. But I discovered presenting rational arguments in response to irrational statement never worked. Now I know the person spewing irrational thoughts, is by the very process, irrational. Their hatred for Trump seem to make it impossible to comprehend a piece of information that counters their irrational beliefs.

Unfortunately, for those with TDS, the prognosis is not great. They’d first have to realize they have it, then have a desire to cure it and finally seek professional help (also outlined in a simple Google search). But this seems highly unlikely. At least now the rest of us can better understand the problem these people have. Maybe show a bit more compassion, which is something else these people seem to have a hard time with.
