One dead following multi-vehicle collision on I-90
POST FALLS — One person is dead following a multi-vehicle collision on Interstate 90 near the state line Monday evening.
According to Idaho State Police, a 2013 Toyota Prius, driven by a 58-year-old male of Livingston, Mont., was eastbound on I-90 and failed to negotiate a right curve. The Prius then left the roadway off the north shoulder, crossed the center median, and entered the westbound lanes of the interstate.
A 2024 Volvo semi-truck, occupied by a 38-year-old male and 37-year-old female both from Spokane was westbound at the time. The Prius struck the rear end of the semi-trailer, with both coming to rest on I-90.
Both vehicles sustained significant damage, ISP said.
During the crash, a 2019 Ford F350 pickup truck occupied by a 23-year-old male from Spokane and a white 2019 Toyota Tundra pickup truck occupied by a 34-year-old male from Priest River were also struck. These vehicles sustained minor damage.
The driver of the Toyota Prius succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on scene, while the occupants of the other vehicles involved reported no injuries.
Next of kin has been notified.
Westbound traffic along I-90 was closed for over three hours while responders worked on the scene.
An investigation continues.
