| September 4, 2025 1:00 AM

Local business owner and community leader John Pulsipher recently announced his candidacy for mayor of Coeur d’Alene.

Pulsipher, a dentist and longtime resident, is running on a platform of communication, public safety, economic growth and citizen engagement, according to a press release.

“Coeur d’Alene has benefited from strong leadership. Now we must build on that foundation with fresh energy, bold ideas, and greater involvement from our citizens,” Pulsipher said.

Day One Priorities

● Improve Communication — Expand how the city shares legal notices and information, ensuring residents see updates on platforms they actually use.

● Support First Responders — Launch a Volunteer Chaplain Corps to stand beside police, firefighters and citizens during times of crisis.

● Broaden the Tax Base — Work with stakeholders to establish a local lodging tax, remitted to the city, ensuring tourists contribute to city amenities and services.

Key Agenda Items

● Engage Citizens — Connect volunteers with city needs to strengthen safety and community pride.

● Strengthen the Economy — Expand local education opportunities, recruit and retain businesses and ensure tourism benefits all of Coeur d’Alene.

● Address Housing and Budget — Streamline permitting, promote ADUs and balance the budget without raiding reserves.

● Protect Quality of Life — Enhance lake and trail safety, incentivize historic preservation and responsibly manage natural resources.

“Too few people vote in local elections, but those who do make the biggest impact,” Pulsipher said in the release. “This November, every voice matters, and every vote matters.”

Pulsipher is a dentist, small business owner and co-owner of a multi-location dental practice that employs nearly 100 people. He has created local jobs, recruited professionals to the region and represented Idaho dentists in Washington, D.C.
