TRAFFIC: Deadly intersection at Highway 41 and Scarcello Road

Once again another horrific accident at the intersection of Highway 41 and Scarcello Road, and I am watching Life Flight go over my house. It is time to get past the excuses of why we can’t put a light or roundabout at this intersection and find a way we can do it. We have enough smart engineers out there to figure it out. The only thing we have is a lack of political and practical will to do it. Enough excuses about the curve on Highway 41. We have flashing lights to warn of an upcoming signal or traffic circle up ahead.

Individual people, committees and homeowner’s associations have been making requests for years. In the meantime, we see lights and roundabouts all over our area because there will be another housing development or apartment complex coming soon. Highway 41 from Rathdrum to Spirit Lake has a ridiculous amount of traffic and this particular intersection is deadly. How many more people have to be injured or lose their life? There is a saying out there that seems to fit in this situation. “Those who say it cannot be done, should get out of the way of the people who are willing to do it.”
