'Geezer Forum' kickoff event set for Sept. 10

COEUR d'ALENE — A travel-focused series of forums for "geezers" is set to host their kickoff event Wednesday, Sept. 10, at the Lake City Center.

The kickoff event, titled 'Ready, Set, Travel!' will cover topics including selecting the right trip, house and pet care, insurance and travel tips and tricks.

Organizer Virginia Taft was inspired to bring the forum together by the summer days she would spend with her neighbor, their feet in a baby pool.

"Whether it is a 'stay-cation' at home, a long or fancy vacation, or a little hideaway, take the time to relax, review the day, complain, inspire ... whatever you desire," Taft said in a release. "Find your little 'island of peace' and enjoy a great, if short, summer."

The free forum begins at 1 p.m., and walk-ins are welcome. Lunch will also be served at noon; call 208-667-4628 to reserve a spot. Those 60 and older are asked for a donation as payment for lunch, while a $7 fee applies for those under 60 years of age.
