Lakeland wins $25K, takes fourth in T-Mobile contest
Lakeland High School won $25,000 and took fourth place in T‑Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights Competition.
The Rathdrum high school earned more than 393,000 votes during the contest, which ran from late September and closed Oct. 24.
Although the Hawks will not receive a $1 million football field makeover, the $25,000 will help fund projects such as stadium repairs, improved accessibility, concession stand upgrades and replacing the H-style field goal post with Y-style posts.
Lakeland's creative cheer — “Rock the Hawk House” — and support from Chicago NFL tight end Colston Loveland made a big impression throughout the competition.
The winner of the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights Competition was Dierks High School in Arkansas, which secured nearly 2 million votes.
