GOOKIN: The leader Cd’A needs now

Coeur d’Alene is today facing unprecedented challenges. Rapid growth, budgetary struggles and outside pressures all threaten to change the nature and quality of life in our beautiful lakeside city.

Our next mayor must be someone who can stand up to these challenges and more — a leader with fresh ideas, and one who knows how to get things done.

Dan Gookin is a 23-year Coeur d’Alene resident who, as a City Council member, has seen the changes and recognizes the consequences of the challenges our city faces. He is a budget hawk who has never voted on a property tax increase. He will seek out budget waste to ensure that every dollar goes results in maximum benefit of the citizens of Coeur d’Alene.

Dan is a longtime neighborhood advocate and prizes the historic charm of our downtown. He has earned more endorsements than any other mayoral candidate, including backing from the Coeur d’Alene Police Officers Association.

In the coming months, Coeur d’Alene will need to find a new police chief. We will need a strong leader at the city’s helm. Please help make that happen by voting for Dan Gookin on Nov. 4.
