GOOKIN: Experience is what matters

| October 31, 2025 1:00 AM

Elections come and go, but results are what count. Dan Gookin has delivered results for Coeur d’Alene for more than a decade —sometimes in ways I haven’t always agreed with — but always with dedication and purpose.

As a City Council member, Dan has consistently advocated for sound budgeting, neighborhood preservation, and open government. He’s not a career politician — he’s a problem solver. Dan’s background as an author and educator shows in his clear communication and practical approach. He’s helped steer the city through growth while insisting on fiscal restraint and accountability. That’s the kind of steady leadership residents like me appreciate.

Dan is knowledgeable about nearly every city issue, and whether you agree with him or not, that’s a rare quality among candidates for public office. By contrast, one of his opponents has voted in only a few Idaho elections and, according to public records, previously had her real estate license revoked in California.

I’ve watched Dan attend countless meetings, listen to citizens, and demand straight answers. He treats every taxpayer dollar as if it were his own — again, something that’s far too rare in government.

If you’re looking for experience, integrity, and a genuine commitment to our community, please vote for Dan Gookin for mayor. He’s earned our confidence through action, not promises. He is the leader Coeur d’Alene needs now.
