POST FALLS: Leaders doing great

I recently read letters to the editor stating their opinion that Post Falls needs new leadership. I couldn’t disagree more. I believe our elected leaders and city workers have been doing a good job, in fact, a great job, in really difficult times.

One writer mentioned that the city was being wasteful by having workers check the nighttime reflectivity of important road signs and making sure residents don’t clog up drainage channels with rocks. Well, drivers need signs to be visible at night to keep us all safe, and we all need our drainage channels to work when the rain and snow runoff come. That’s what a responsible city government does … understand best practices to operate and maintain the city infrastructure, and then best use the limited resources they have to address our public health, safety and welfare needs.

It was suggested these actions weren’t “common sense.” Well, I think they are both “common sense” and “good sense” because the city was both educated and informed on issues, rather than being just bone-headed opinionated. If citizens don’t care enough to do their homework to understand the facts and why things are being done, then they should just be quiet.

And Lord, I sure hope our elected leaders don’t bring the “Elon Musk DOGE approach” to Post Falls. No responsible private business (or government) would ever do what our federal government did by cutting first and asking questions later.
