FUNDS: Help Lake City Center

I have been going to the Lake City Center five days a week for about five years now. I have had the opportunity to see what goes on there. The center provides services for the less fortunate and disabled by providing nutritious meals for those that need them. Its Meals on Wheels program provides these healthy meals to CDA, Post Falls, Rathdrum, Hayden and Athol. That would be around 5,000-plus meals a month! I’m sure you can imagine how much work it takes. The kitchen staff works extremely hard to make this program work. In addition to that, they provide healthy lunches three times a week at the center.

The center is run by Nancy Phillips and Nancy is doing an unbelievable job keeping the place on track. The kitchen is being handled by Chivon Bailey, and she is doing an amazing job as well! There are other people there too, and many of them are volunteers.

The center has other programs. There are art groups, card groups, line dancing, pool players and more. Many of the programs are free, but some charge just $1-2. Yes, $1-2. How do you keep something like that going with such a shoestring budget?

That is the point of this letter. There are a lot of philanthropic businesses in this community as well as philanthropic individuals. The center relies on the government for grants and funding to keep it afloat. Those are becoming more difficult to obtain. The point is they need help so they can continue providing all these services.
