SANNER: Will support public schools

Tom Sanner is the write-in candidate for CDA Public Schools Trustee District 4. Tom is a lifelong Idahoan. I have known Tom for years. He is hard-working and always willing to help. As we learned during our struggles with NIC, Trustee positions matter. It is so important to elect school trustees who care about our public schools. Tom knows that most citizens send their children to public school. He realizes that our schools have been underfunded for over a decade. In fact, in 2011, the Idaho Supreme Court found that our Congressional school funding violated the constitutional requirement to fully fund our schools.

While things have improved somewhat over the past few years, this is not the time to cut into our state budget to start funding private schools. Tom opposes vouchers because he realizes that, in time, voucher supporters are likely to cause tax increases or cuts into school budgets. Both happened in other states that started voucher programs. Tom will make sure our tax dollars go to educate our public school students. 

It just doesn’t make sense to elect someone who will not support our public schools. Tom believes that our public school students will be our future. I agree with him. Coeur d’Alene’s future success depends on the success of our public schools. Tom will put children first. Isn’t that what we want in a trustee? Please write in Tom Sanner in Trustee District 4.
