RASMUSSEN: Leader who will show up

| October 24, 2025 1:00 AM

Coeur d’Alene needs leaders who show up for students, listen with heart and lead with integrity. That is exactly who Rick Rasmussen is, and I’m proud to wholeheartedly support him for Coeur d’Alene School Board trustee, Zone 1.

I first met Rick as a senior in high school when I was ASB President at Coeur d’Alene High. As I was learning what leadership meant, Rick became a mentor who believed in me before I did. He encouraged me to lead with confidence and reminded me that true leaders serve first, guidance I still rely on as a senior in college today.

One of the most impactful things Rick did for me was help set up my internship through Northwest Specialty Hospital. He didn’t just open doors but made sure I was surrounded by professionals who cared deeply about my success. That experience shaped my career path and inspired my decision to pursue a career as a physician assistant.

Rick wants Coeur d’Alene to be a place where young people can return, build their lives and raise their families, and he backs up that belief through action. He continues to create meaningful workforce opportunities for students and it amazes me how he still finds time to be present at school events, fundraisers and community gatherings. Everyone I know respects Rick because he shows up, listens and truly cares.
