A bald eagle flies just above Lake Coeur d’Alene near Higgens Point in mid-January. Photographer Kevin Dockter had this to say about the photo: “It was taken a few days before Christmas, 2024, down near Higgens Point. It was one of those cold, snowy days when you can feel the dampness. I love those days because it is really quiet out and there are very few other photographers willing to tough it out in the elements. I was hunkered down behind a boulder trying to stay as dry as possible when; this bald eagle came flying past close to me. I was able to capture another moment in the ‘Life of an Eagle’ to share with everyone. Photography in snow is quite challenging because the camera wants to focus on the snow instead of the subject. Some say that a shot like this is luck ... some say that it’s skill.” The Press plans to publish a weekly photo by Kevin Dockter of bald eagles as a countdown to the “Season of Eagles, 2025,” which is Nov. 15.
