Coeur d'Alene Tribe donates $200K to Plummer-Worley district
The Coeur d'Alene Tribe has once again stepped up to support local schools, donating $200,000 to the Plummer-Worley Joint School District. This contribution continues a long and consistent record of tribal investment in education.
“We’ve consistently supported Plummer-Worley because we know how much our schools matter to this community," said Chief Allan, chairman of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe. "We recognize the shortfall in state and federal funding and the limits of local property tax revenues. When those gaps appear, the Tribe steps up. We always have, and we always will. Our students deserve the best opportunities we can give them."
Over the past decade alone, the Tribe has donated more than $1.7 million directly to the Plummer-Worley School District. Overall, the Tribe has contributed over $37 million to education.
"The Coeur d'Alene Tribal Council has consistently backed this commitment, playing a central role in ensuring that schools in the region are supported," a press release said. "The council has made education a top priority for decades, always stepping up to help schools and students succeed."
This most recent donation will help the district address critical needs at its elementary, middle and high schools. Tribal education funding is intentionally flexible, allowing local districts to direct funds toward the areas of greatest impact, including classroom technology, curriculum support and student services.
The tribe’s investment in education has supported schools across the region for decades, helping to fill funding gaps and ensure students have the resources they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom, the release said.
“On behalf of the Plummer-Worley Joint School District, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Coeur d’Alene Tribe for their generous donation and continued support of our students, staff and community," said Superintendent Tara Lere said. "Your contribution is more than a gift — it is an investment in the future of our children."
Lere said the Tribe’s commitment to education and community partnership strengthens their shared mission to provide every student with the tools, opportunities and encouragement they need to succeed.
"Your generosity makes a lasting difference, and we are sincerely thankful for your continued belief in our schools," she said.
