HAUG: The leader Post Falls deserves

| October 19, 2025 1:00 AM

I’ve had the privilege of knowing and working with Scot Haug for 22 years at the Post Falls Police Department, where I began as a communications officer and later served as communications director. Throughout that time, I witnessed firsthand the kind of leader Scot is — one with the highest levels of integrity, professionalism, and character. He was not only an exceptional boss but a steady, compassionate leader who inspired those around him to bring their best every day.

As chief of police, Scot led with integrity, compassion, and humility. He never asked his team to do anything he wasn’t willing to do himself. He listened carefully, treated people fairly, and always placed public service above politics. Under his leadership, our department became a model of teamwork and accountability — and Post Falls became a safer, stronger community because of it.

What sets Scot apart is that his dedication didn’t end when he retired from law enforcement. He continues to serve Post Falls through volunteer work, civic involvement, and his ongoing commitment to the people who call this city home. He understands the challenges of growth and has the experience and vision to help our community navigate them responsibly.

Scot Haug is the kind of leader who leads with both heart and purpose. I have the utmost respect for him and highly recommend him for mayor of Post Falls. He has proven his love for this community time and again, and I am confident he will continue to serve with the same dedication and integrity that have defined his entire career.
