KIRK: Christians urged to reflect

Conservative Christians, I urge you to take a step back from social media and take time to research opposing perspectives. If God is both truth and love, and you are truly following Him, do you not believe He will lead you to absolute truth? Engage with videos, podcasts, and discussions produced by those on the other side of the political spectrum.

Charlie Kirk was a skilled debater — calm, composed, and confident when engaging with people he disagreed with. Many of his remarks were taken out of context, yet he also made exaggerated and extreme statements that he later went on to defend. While he may have been a compelling political figure within his party, I believe he was not a representative of the hands and feet of Jesus.

Study Scripture for yourself. Delve deeply into the original languages and the cultural context of the verses Kirk often cited. Ask why some Christians disagree with his interpretations. Seek them out and listen earnestly to their perspectives.

Have the courage to ask yourself: What if I am wrong? What if Charlie Kirk was not representing the heart of God?

Righteousness does not come from assuming we already hold the truth—it comes from a humble pursuit of it. “He who seeks will find.” Charlie Kirk believed he had all the answers, and many of his followers shared that conviction.

Remember, Jesus never said, “Blessed are the debaters, the inflators, and the proselytizers.” He said, “Blessed are the humble, the merciful, and the peacemakers.”
