Cowgirls Closing the Gap Raffle to be held Friday

A recent Chicks n Chaps Coeur d'Alene fundraiser brought in just under $60,000 to support breast cancer patients, but the people behind the pink are pushing to cross that $60,000 threshold through the Cowgirls Closing the Gap Raffle.
The nonprofit held its 17th annual event Oct. 3 at Nashville North, during which event organizers, breast cancer survivors and community members enjoyed a Western-themed event sprinkled with dancing, auctions and fellowship.
“This is one of our biggest years," Chicks n Chaps Coeur d'Alene board member Tolli Willhite said Friday. "We are still going strong and raising lots of dollars for our community."
Since its inception, Chicks n Chaps Coeur d'Alene has raised over $750,000 to provide relief for people undergoing treatment for breast cancer. The funds help with everything from gas and groceries to rent and utilities, which can be challenging to pay when patients are spending their time in and out of the hospital and recovering from medical procedures without the ability to work normal hours.
"It's helping them at the worst times of their lives, wrapping around them to be supported," board member Kali Singleton said.
Willhite said what makes the annual Chicks n Chaps event so successful is that attendees are assured every penny raised goes straight back into the community.
"That’s what hits home for people, they know when they contributed to the cause they’re helping their neighbors, their friends, their families," she said.
The grand prize for the Cowgirls Closing the Gap Raffle includes:
• A one-night stay at the Coeur d’Alene Casino Resort Hotel
• $300 extra play cash gift certificates for dining, gaming or relaxing
• A wine and charcuterie basket to enjoy during the stay
The drawing will be held virtually Friday, Oct. 17. Tickets for the Cowgirls Closing the Gap Raffle are $5 each.
Chicks n Chaps is dedicated to helping communities raise money for local individuals and families impacted by breast cancer.
