Former Cd’A School District trustee pleads guilty to second DUI

COEUR d’ALENE — A former Coeur d’Alene School District trustee has pleaded guilty to two separate charges of driving under the influence.

Allie Anderton was arrested in April on charges of driving under the influence and possession of drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Anderton resigned from her position on the Coeur d’Alene School District board of trustees days after her arrest. 

Anderton pleaded guilty to driving under the influence in June. Prosecutors dismissed the other charge. 

In late August, Post Falls prosecutors charged Anderton with driving under the influence and possessing an open container in a vehicle, both misdemeanors. 

Prosecutors dismissed the latter charge as part of a plea agreement. Anderton pleaded guilty to the remaining DUI charge Friday. 

In accordance with an agreement reached by prosecutors and legal counsel for Anderton, First District Judge Keisha Oxendine remanded Anderton on Friday to the Kootenai County DUI Court program. 

The specialized treatment court program involves intensive supervision by a misdemeanor probation officer, frequent court appearances, mandatory substance use disorder counseling and random drug and alcohol testing. 

The North Idaho Crisis Center at 2195 Ironwood Court in Coeur d’Alene offers free, confidential help for people who are having a drug or alcohol abuse problem or a mental health crisis.
