Members of local Eagles auxiliaries recently donated 140 phone chargers/adaptors to place in the rigs of first responders across Kootenai County.

Each device is engraved with the words, “End of Watch — In Memory of BC Harwood and BC Morrison. You will always be in our hearts.”

"We wanted to do something meaningful for all three fire departments — Kootenai County Fire, Coeur d’Alene Fire, Northern Lakes Fire — as well as Kootenai County EMS," Coeur d'Alene Eagles No. 486 Auxiliary secretary Eleanora Capaul shared with The Press.

Three days after the June 29 shooting and fire that claimed the lives of Kootenai County Fire and Rescue Battalion Chief Frank Harwood and Coeur d'Alene Fire Battalion Chief John Morrison and seriously injured Coeur d'Alene Fire engineer Dave Tysdal, the Coeur d’Alene Eagles No. 486 Auxiliary held a meeting.

With guidance and approval from Division Chief Mitchell Copstead, the Coeur d'Alene Eagles Auxiliary No. 486, alongside Hayden Lake Eagles Auxiliary No. 1080, joined together to make it happen along with generous contributions from Coeur d'Alene Auxiliary secretary Penny Wright and Neil Wright from their fireworks stand sales and Auxiliary President Heather Callahan from her woodcraft sales.

"This effort represents just a small token of gratitude for the immeasurable sacrifice made by our firefighters," Capaul said.
