| November 25, 2025 1:00 AM

Matt Cameron retired Nov. 7 from his role as vice president of engineering at Sigma Design, concluding a notable 26-year career with the company. Piet Ganzer, previously director of engineering, succeeded him in the role.

A graduate of Sandpoint High School and a longtime native of the Sandpoint community, Cameron’s career spanned more than 26 years with Sigma Design. The Sandpoint native played a key role in building the Pacific Northwest’s product development organizations.

Cameron is the son of Mindy Cameron and the late Dr. Ken Cameron of Sandpoint. Mindy Cameron and her husband, Bill Berg, cofounded Panhandle Alliance for Education in 2002 as a means of building independent support for local public schools. She remains an active member of the Panhandle Alliance for Education.

Dr. Ken Cameron was a respected optometrist in Sandpoint for many years and known for his commitment to patient care and environmental causes.

Matt Cameron’ss professional legacy at Sigma Design, marked by leadership, innovation, and mentorship, reflects the strong values of service and excellence rooted in his Sandpoint upbringing.

Cameron joined Sigma Design in 1999 as the company’s sixth employee, and over the past 26 years he played a formative role in shaping Sigma Design’s engineering organization. During his tenure, he held various engineering and leadership roles, culminating in a decade as VP of Engineering. He led Sigma Design’s New Product Introduction teams, oversaw major product development efforts for key customers, and managed the buildout of cross-disciplinary teams and facilities to support integrated engineering, prototyping, testing, and early production operations.

“Matt’s contributions are foundational to who we are today,” Lindsey Dotson, CEO and president, said. “We are grateful for his long service, and we are pleased to assign Piet with the leadership of our engineering team. Piet brings valuable experience, strategic insight, and a track record of results that position him well to help lead the company in alignment with Sigma Design’s goals.”

Sigma Design looks forward to this planned transition and continued growth under Ganzer’s leadership, building on the strong engineering culture Cameron helped encourage.
