GROUND: What is happening?

What’s the city doing about the soils collapse issue involving the Marriott hotel project at Sixth and Sherman downtown?  

We know there is a subsidence issue, but we do not know the full extent. I understand there’s been no geotechnical/soils testing done to evaluate this potentially massive problem since it became apparent. If that huge crane comes down, people could get killed. What if Sherman Avenue collapses? 

I understand there is already subsidence near the alley separating the project from the Parkside building. Why has the city not stopped the Marriott project pending proper evaluation? The liability risks — and taxpayer exposure — are huge.

City, do your job before something bad happens.
