DOE: It is a failure

Joanne Lokken’s letter and below-the-surface critique of Jim Jones’ opinion piece regarding our public school system hit the nail on the head. But she needs a bigger hammer to hit the almost impervious shell that is the Department of Education at the federal level.

One only needs to pull the report card for high school seniors on a national level to fully understand the abject failure of the DOE. It’s just one of many useless, bloated, government agencies that only serve their union members and one political party and not the people they are supposed to serve equally.

The DOE should be abolished along with the 17th Amendment while creating a law for term limits in Congress.
