Prescribed burn in Canfield/Cancourse area planned for Thursday

A prescribed burn of cut vegetation in the Canfield Mountain area is set to begin Thursday.
Crews will be burning in two small units, the first being a 2.8-acre unit in the southeast corner of the Cancourse Nature Park. The second is a 1-acre unit on a private parcel adjacent to the fire reduction work that was done last year in the Canfield Natural Area and Cancourse.
This summer, tree crews pruned vegetation and felled dead trees, which was then piled at locations around the park in preparation for burning when weather conditions were deemed favorable.
The work is expected to conclude Friday.
