THANKS: Food drive donors appreciated

The CDA Lions Club sends its gratitude to our local Grocery Outlet and to its patrons. Grocery Outlet again supported the Lions Club’s food drive for the CDA local food bank. Seven hundred and thirty pounds of greatly needed food was donated by Grocery Outlet customers in six short hours. As a volunteer, my heart was touched by the smiles and warmth of contributors. People with the least to give, shared what they could. Contributions large and small were a blessing to those in need.

I am a new member of our local club. I originally joined to help with the Lion’s Club yearly free hearing and eye screening provided in all the Coeur d’Alene Public Schools. I learned that the Lions also provide eyeglass vouchers to children in need. As a former elementary school teacher, I know the value and need of these screenings.

I also had the opportunity to help with the annual Gala Dinner at the Lake City Senior Center. I am continually learning about more club volunteer activities such as the collection of used eyeglass frames sent to impoverished nations. Lions even volunteer to collect trash on our public roads.

The club meets every first and third Monday at Lake City Senior Center’s library at six in the evening. Time is valuable, so our meetings are kept short. You are welcome to join us or call for more information at the Lion’s Club’s Coeur d’Alene phone number found online.
