COEUR TERRE: Let your voices be heard

I am writing today because I love our Indian Meadows neighborhood and know many of you not residing in this subdivision enjoy its amenities. You may travel across town to play pickleball on Atlas/Northshire’s nine courts, practice Tai Chi or bring your children to play in the park. Do you watch your canine friends frolic in the dog park on Nez Perce? Perhaps you prefer a stroll in our quiet, rural neighborhood. Many of you park in the tree lined median if you are unable to snag a spot in the 23-space parking lot. 

This will change with the Coeur Terre development being built adjoining Indian Meadows and Northshire. City Planning and Zoning propose using Appaloosa and Nez Perce as connecting roads to Atlas. At the last City Council meeting, it was suggested using only Nez Perce as the connector. Traffic models estimate a minimum of 5,000 vehicles per day will funnel through these roads, in turn affecting surrounding neighborhoods. A better option is to use Industrial Loop, a 500’ shorter road with an existing traffic light, costing taxpayers less. 

It is up to us to let our voices be heard. The next City Planning and Zoning meeting is scheduled for December 9th at the CDA Public Library at 5:30pm. Agenda packets can be found at cdaid.org (click on calendar) two days prior to each meeting. Please consider attending the Planning and Zoning meetings, City Council Meetings, and write City Council members, City Streets and Planning staff. We need your help. Thank you.
