GIVING: Please help buy turkeys

On Nov. 21, Turkeys & More plans to distribute 2,100 turkeys from Unity Church. The Coeur Group will be taking turkeys to outlying food banks and agencies helping vulnerable families. Those who pre-registered at the CAP Food Bank will be driving through to pick their turkey up from volunteers helping to pass them out.

Recent headlines in the Cd’A Press emphasize the growing need to help vulnerable families with food assistance. “Food banks brace for rising need,” “Food orders for low-income Idahoans canceled” and “This food bank saved my life.” Many would not be able to afford to buy a turkey for their family to enjoy on Thanksgiving.

Based upon previous surveys, we think over 10,000 Kootenai County residents will enjoy a nice holiday dinner in their homes because of the generous donations from people and businesses in the community. It will cost over $60,000 to pay for the birds and supplies and the nonprofit group needs to raise another $10,000
