MARRIAGE: Spread word about positives

Modern entertainment has been amazingly successful in convincing its viewers that marriage is something not to be sought after. However, the entertainment industry may not be the greatest propaganda machine in tearing down marriage.

I have recently been asking married individuals to describe marriage. I am not sure what I expected when I started asking, but the majority of the answers were sad to me. The vast majority of answers included an initial positive, but then followed by many negatives. Heck, marriage was almost being described like a medication advertisement on TV. The announcer will say this new medication is a cure for this terrible ailment (positive), then immediately goes into the many possible side effects, usually including death (negatives).

No wonder when individuals are asked if they are getting married, many of them, in weighing what they hear about marriage, answer in the negative. So here is my call to action, tell people what you love about your marriage. Tell them how wonderful it is to be married to your best friend. Tell them about the joy in the journey as you look forward to growing old together. Tell them how wonderful it is to grow and change together. Tell them how incredible your spouse is. And before you go saying all this to a stranger, make sure you tell your spouse. Spread the word, marriage is the greatest adventure that you will ever embark upon!
