COEUR TERRE: Save, don’t sacrifice Indian Meadows

Coeur Terre is a 442-acre development that is being built. The area was farmland. The city of Cd’A and the developer want to put connecting roads from Atlas to Coeur Terre through our Indian Meadows neighborhood, which has been an established rural neighborhood since the 1970s. Nez Perce Road, which my family has lived on for 33 years, is one of the proposed connecting roads. Nez Perce has a neighborhood children’s park, basketball courts, pickleball courts and a dog park. The school bus also uses our street. There are no sidewalks, and we all walk and bike in the street and median.

If we become a thoroughfare for Coeur Terre, there will be an estimated increase of 4,000 to 5,000 vehicles per day on our road. This is a safety and liability issue for the city, as children are going to get hurt. In addition to using Hanley and Seltice Way for traffic, using Industrial Way, which is set up for heavy industrial traffic, is a better choice than using the peaceful neighborhood of Indian Meadows.

Other than compromised safety, additional impacts to our neighborhood are decreased property value, decreased quality of life, increased noise and air pollution from massive traffic, our property being used for sidewalks, and tax increases for road changes and maintenance.

The final decision will be made by the city planners, the developers and the city council members. Please don’t let the demands of Coeur Terre development sacrifice our Indian Meadows community.
