TRAFFIC LIGHT: What’s going on?

There has been much discussion among residents about the lights that were added on Prairie and 53 as traffic was routed to that intersection from Pleasant View and 53. The light at Prairie was supposed to go live the day that they shut down the Pleasant View Road crossing … but months later, it is still not activated and there is a serious safety risk with observations of accidents and close calls. There are rumors of a dispute between IDT and BNSF preventing activation and that they are pointing the finger at each other, with each saying the other is responsible for the delay. Citizens have contacted IDT, BNSF and State Legislators but have been unable to get answers on what the problem is and when it will be resolved. This is an interesting investigative reporting opportunity for the Coeur d’Alene Press to get to the bottom of what is really going on. I hope you will look into it and report on it.
