SPEED LIMIT: It’s canceled

| May 21, 2025 1:00 AM

Scofflaws driving Margaret Avenue are not residents living on Margaret Avenue but, rather, folks passing through, speeders bound for other locations. Margaret has a posted speed of 25 because it is completely residential, with kids, squirrels, deer, the occasional moose or an adult human crossing to visit a neighbor or gather mail. The scofflaws or “tourists” flying through the area will approach speeds of 60-plus, but the average is somewhere in the low 40s. This is not an exaggeration. The solar speed monitors serve mainly as congratulatory evidence, to scofflaws, of their successful violation of common-sense rules for neighborhood safety.

With a nod to Matt Walsh, for acknowledgment of reality, and for purely practical reasons, we should say, the speed limit on Margaret Avenue is, this day, canceled.
