ENDORSEMENT: Vote for Post Falls levy
I urge the Post Falls community — PLEASE VOTE YES FOR THE SCHOOL LEVY!
One area that the levy would affect, and I would like to highlight, is the extracurricular activities that our children have available to them (although there are such a myriad of reasons to vote yes). One program that has been an absolute delight to watch grow is the choir program at Mullan Trail Elementary/Seltice Elementary.
If you have not had a chance to watch Ms. Brittany Burris direct her elementary school choir, you are missing out. In December, the choir sang at the Post Falls City Hall as well as the Post Falls High School. A couple weeks ago, the choir could be found performing at the Spokane Indians Baseball game — all three performances were FANTASTIC.
Ms. Burris’s talent as a teacher shows through in her graceful control over the entire group of elementary school children (there are SO many of them) and the gorgeous harmonies they produce. She chooses songs that showcase their talents as well as bring humor and nostalgia to the crowd (I was brought to tears twice during the holiday performance). Her students very obviously respect and honor her with their attention to her instruction and the way they sing so beautifully.
Ms. Burris announced that Post Falls is attempting to garner attention and promote the arts within the public school district. Like many parents in this community, I wholeheartedly support this effort and hope to see it blossom and grow, but it cannot if this levy does not pass.
I implore you to vote yes and help grow the talent in our community.
