ENDORSEMENT: Vote for Bauman

| May 16, 2025 1:00 AM

We will be voting for a trustee for the CLN library board on May 20. Our choices are these: Victoria Bauman, who wants children to have access to books appropriate for children, and Michelle Lippert, who wants sexually explicit books available to people of all ages, children included, and considers anything less to be censorship and banning (See her April 8 My Turn article). Our library board can neither ban nor censor books. Only governments can.

The CLN trustees are complying with Idaho law 18-1517B, which the legislature approved unanimously. This law prohibits institutions from providing minors with depictions of nudity or sexual conduct. But M. Lippert called it an “extreme ideological agenda” and would permit smut in the children’s section of the library. Pornography corrupts children’s minds and innocence. No one should want that.

About 140 books were moved from the children’s area to a room where only adults may check them out. So, if a parent wants his or her children to read obscene material, that parent can check these books out. Better yet, he can go buy smut-filled books for his children instead of forcing us, the taxpayers, to pay for this kind of books.

Victoria is for the children!

Vote victory for children!
