COEUR d'ALENE — Deputy U.S. Marshals extradited a 50-year-old man back to North Idaho from Georgia, a country at the intersection of Europe and Asia, on Monday night.

Rody L. Wilcox had been charged with lewd conduct with a minor under 16 years of age, a press release said.

On Dec. 6, 2023, Wilcox was arrested in Salmon but he posted bond in January 2024 while pending trial.

Wilcox later failed to appear for a motion hearing while on bond, and an arrest warrant was issued July 17, the release said.

"Investigators learned that sometime earlier in July, prior to his hearing, Wilcox fled the country," the release said.

The Latah County Sheriff’s Office, Latah County Prosecutors, U.S. Attorney’s Office, U.S. Marshals Service and FBI worked together to track down Wilcox.

He was finally located and arrested by Georgian authorities in August.

The USMS worked with the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs to secure the extradition of Wilcox back to Idaho.
