ATLAS: Lower speed limit could lead to more congestion
We have lived a couple of blocks off the Atlas/Kathleen intersection since 1986. I can well appreciate the concern of the residents living between Prairie and Hanley as the rise in traffic has become terrible with the growth in Coeur d’Alene, with much more to come. As a native of the area, do not like all the changes, but it is happening. I agree with K. Johnson from Rathdrum regarding a lower speed limit on Atlas not working. There are times right now when we have waited for as many as 25 cars to pass in order to get out on to Atlas. My concern is that will become much more congested if you have a section of Atlas slowed to 25 mph, especially with the series of lights in place from Hanley to Kathleen, and as we all know, everyone is not going to follow a slower speed limit which could lead to more daily accidents.
