Pischner to lecture on Halsey Brothers
Don Pischner, Idaho State Historical Society trustee, will present the story of the Halsey Brothers at the Museum of North Idaho Lecture Series at 5:30 p.m. May 14 at the Coeur d’Alene Public Library.
Pischner, whose grandparents settled north of Hayden Lake during the 1890s, represented the people of North Idaho as a four-term legislator.
"Ever since, Mr. Pischner's love of history, including the politics, characters and events of Idaho, has only grown," a press release said.
Pischner will share a story of "love, sacrifice, and patriotism as reflected in the lives of Coeur d’Alene’s own Halsey brothers."
Donald and Delbert Halsey served in World War II and lost their lives in the European and Asian theaters, respectively.
Pischner will present how their deaths impacted their parents, Vern and Anna, and how their legacy eventually reached the community.
