SNR marks 40th anniversary with open house
Specialized Needs Recreation is hosting an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at its headquarters, 3700 Government Way, to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
The nonprofit provides opportunities for social and recreational engagement for adults and children with disabilities in North Idaho.
“Come visit us, meet some of our participants and staff and see what we do. Every day looks different and we are proud of SNR and thankful for everyone who participates, on every level," said Lindsay Patterson, SNR executive director.
SNR clients take on many responsibilities. They grow vegetables in the Shared Harvest Community Garden, host a Kiwanis AKTION Club and provide community service at food banks.
"You may think you don’t need the experiences provided by SNR, as a participant or volunteer, but you may know someone who would benefit from knowing about it,” said volunteer and new board member Suzanne Knutson. "For an organization to succeed and thrive for over 40 years is remarkable, and this open house is an opportunity for our community to celebrate with participants, staff, volunteers and donors.”
