ENDORSEMENT: Vote yes for Lakeland levy

I am writing to express my support for the upcoming Lakeland School District levy on May 20. The levy is essential to the continued success of our schools and arguably our community. The Lakeland School District is a desirable place to live and raise kids precisely because of our communities and our schools.

Much about our district will change if the levy fails. The very resources the levy provides like support staff, extracurricular activities and academics will no longer be in place and our community and our children will suffer. Passing the levy will require effort and support from all members of our community — not just those that have some direct tie to the school district.

My wife and I currently have 3 children (two at Timberlake Middle School, one at Timberlake High School) in the Lakeland School District. They are active in sports, clubs and music. I am incredibly proud to send them to schools where they are safe, respected and challenged.

I have seen firsthand the difference these dedicated teachers, staff, volunteers and administrators are making in my children’s lives and those of others in the district. I believe that our community has what it takes to make the right choice on May 20. Thank you.
