COEUR d'ALENE — The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department and Idaho State Police were on the scene of a brush fire along westbound Interstate 90 near the 15th Street on and off ramps, in addition to second fire near the Fourth Street off ramp, Friday afternoon.
The I-90 westbound on ramp was closed around 3:30 p.m. as crews responded to the scene.
"These fires were likely caused by hot (brakes) or maybe trailer chains dragging and spreading sparks," CDAFD said in a social media post.
This was not the only brush fire in the area Friday, CDAFD said.
"Things are drying up already," CDAFD added. "Please make sure your trailer chains are secured and that they don't drag on the roadway."
The fires appeared to be out as of 3:30 p.m.
