Woman dies in crash near Sandpoint

SANDPOINT — A woman died in a single-vehicle crash on U.S. 95 late Sunday or early Monday near Sandpoint.
According to the Idaho State Police, a passenger car driven by a 43-year-old woman was westbound on Colburn Culver Road approaching the intersection at U.S. 95 at a high rate of speed, ISP said in a press release.
The vehicle crossed over U.S. 95, left the roadway and came to a stop in a pond. The driver was wearing her seat belt and died at the scene. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash.
U.S. 95 was not blocked. Next of kin notifications are underway. The accident is being handled by the Bonner County Coroner’s Office.
